Building a Mausoleum - Pg2

Mausoleum index | Next

After shoring up some rather rickety construction (we allowed for this in our timetable), we trimmed our foam board and tacked it to the frame.

Theresa models a bit of
duct tape.  Menacingly.
(Where's the cat?)

Foam board is much cheaper than plywood (about $7.00/sheet) and cuts with a razor knife.  Plus, it's light and easy to work with.

Duct tape holds it in place nicely, but roofing nails would also do the job.  Anything with a large head. (A local politician, for instance)  Staples are another option.

Safety note: Do not say mean things about people who may be standing behind you in a mausoleum.  My brother is continually faced with this dilemma in and out of mausoleums.

This thing looks sort of like a lemonade stand, or maybe a 4H pie booth.  Hopefully it will become a convincing mausoleum after the monster mud has been applied and the rest of the front facade is in place.

We built a nice "Vacancy" sign to go above the door of our cozy little spook palace.  Notice how it already draws in the netherworld creatures?  Maybe they're attracted to lemonade stands and pie booths.
